Joe Boyd

Artist Description

Legendary producer Joe Boyd's memoir "White Bicycles: making music in the 1960s" has been the surprise hit in non-fiction publishing in Britain last year. He's launching it this month in the US and will be reading, raconteuring and answering questions at Joe's Pub 7pm March 27. Old Harvard Sq pal Geoff Muldaur will add a musical ingredient to the evening and they will be joined by Geoff and Maria's daughter Jenni and other NY musical pals for - if we can go by glowing reports of Joe's UK readings - what should be memorable evening. "… the best book about music I've read in years." Brian Eno

Geoff Muldaur collected blues records with Joe Boyd when they were both teenagers and went on to become the golden-voiced lead singer of the Kweskin Jug Band and the Butterfield Blues Band in the '60s and '70s. His arrangement of 'Brazil' graces the soundtrack of the Terry Gilliam film of the same name. After retreating from live performing for over a decade, he now tours the world, bringing his elegant complex guitar-playing and inimitable voice to a new generation of listeners. 'There are only three great white blues singers and Geoff Muldaur is at least two of them" Richard Thompson.
