Shawn Mullins

Artist Description

Singer/songwriter Shawn Mullins recently made his Vanguard Records debut with the February 14 release of 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor, an acoustic-based CD named for the New Orleans home studio where most of the album's acoustic tracks were cut. Marked by finely crafted lyrics and heartfelt vocals, delivered in a smooth tenor, 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor serves up a perfect blend of folk, country, blues and rock and is dedicated to the people of New Orleans. Long before his 1998 Top Ten hit single "Lullaby," Atlanta-based Shawn Mullins had been a do-it-yourself artist for many years releasing CDs on his own label. A multi-instrumentalist, Mullins was exposed to music at the early age of 4 by his grandfather, who was a big band player, and began writing songs and producing cassettes in grammar school. After attending North Georgia College, a military school where he studied music, he graduated and was commissioned to the U. S. Army Airborne Infantry. After leaving the military in the early '90s, he hit the road with his guitar and a heart full of song. "All I ever wanted to do was record and write songs," says Mullins. Here's to that dream come true.
