Artist Description
Griffin House is an Ohio native who didn't start playing guitar until he was away at college, and his only previous experience as a singer came in a high school play. But as soon as he learned basic chords, he began to write songs. As a child, he loved rap music, then listened to the band Live and Red Hot Chili Peppers as a teenager. In college, he spent five months in Europe, mainly in Luxembourg, broadening his view of the world. Returning to the U.S. and settling in Nashville, House composed the songs that made up his independent debut, Upland. Seeing his promise as a singer-songwriter that could balance spirituality and darkness, the label Nettwerk signed him to their roster and management company.
Almost always on tour, House released the album his first album, Lost & Found, in 2004. He recorded on a low budget with his band and a few friends doing the producing and recording themselves allowing only one or two takes for each track.
