Celebrating the release of her latest album "Almost Human", cellist Maya Beiser returns to Joe's Pub for another mesmerizing evening. Described by the Washington Post as "the hot young cello diva of the avant-garde", and by the Los Angeles Times as "A striking virtuoso", she pushes her instrument to its limits with this hip global program of purely 21st-century music. Playing selections from her new album, Maya will perform the haunting and surreal "I am writing to you from a far off country", music by Eve Beglarian and text by Henri Michaux, and Joby Talbot's whimsical "Motion Detector". Also on the program is music by Michael Gordon, video by Bill Morrison, and a guest appearance by fiddle virtuoso Mark O'Connor.
