Artist Description
"Haale's warm, supple voice unfurled like a curlicue
of smoke. Her band amplified rumble served as a reminder of the extent to which
rock bands like the Doors and the Velvet Underground turned to the East for
their most hypnotic efforts; here their borrowings were reclaimed with
interest."
-The New York Times
"Haale works a panoramic blend of
luscious rock, heady bass, and brilliantly produced rhythms."
-Popmatters
"The surprise chestnut at the heart of the music is the dynamic, fiery
delivery of Haale herself, whose voice is by turns deep and commanding,
feather-light and breezy, and as rich and sensual as dark-chocolate
fondue."
-Flavorpill
Haale and Matt Kilmer will be debuting material from their new project 'The Mast' and will also be playing favorites from their 2008 release, 'No Ceiling.' The two have been writing and recording together for the past 3 years. Starting in January 2007, with the release of their two EPs, 'Paratrooper' and 'Morning,' they toured across the country, in Canada, and Europe playing such venues as the Bonnaroo festival (07), the David Byrne curated series at Carnegie Hall, the Hillside Festival, Celebrate Brooklyn, Mimi Festival in France, and Preservation Hall in New Orleans. In March 2008, they released the full-length album 'No Ceiling' which the Boston Globe called , 'one of the year's most memorable releases.' Over the past year, they have written a slew of new songs, and will be releasing these in 2010. 'The Moon Song' is their first video for the new project. They will be joined by special guests.

Haale / The Mast Staff Pick
"It’s been too long since I got my last Haale fix. She gets such a great groove going in the room, and I often find myself getting lost in the psych-rock-meets-Persian-trance atmosphere that she and her band conjure up. When Haale plays at Joe’s, it’s also a great time to really appreciate the room itself – the combination of the music and the way the lights hit the Pub stage really transport you to an ethereal and dynamic headspace." - Jo Lampert (Artist Liason)
