Artist Description
"Haale's warm, supple voice unfurled like a curlicue
of smoke. Her band amplified rumble served as a reminder of the extent to which
rock bands like the Doors and the Velvet Underground turned to the East for
their most hypnotic efforts; here their borrowings were reclaimed with
interest." - The New York Times
"Haale works a panoramic blend of
luscious rock, heady bass, and brilliantly produced rhythms." Popmatters
"The surprise chestnut at the heart of the music is the dynamic, fiery
delivery of Haale herself, whose voice is by turns deep and commanding,
feather-light and breezy, and as rich and sensual as dark-chocolate
fondue." - Flavorpill
With Matt Kilmer on percussion and Brent Arnold on cello, NYC-based Haale pays homage to 60's psychedelic rock and Persian/Sufi trance, creating a propulsive soundscape of electric guitars, percussion, and strings over which she sings in English and Persian. In March 2008, Haale released the full-length album 'No Ceiling' which the Boston Globe called , 'one of the year's most memorable releases.' On 'No Ceiling,' Haale explores themes of transformation and personal evolution. Haale and the band started touring in January 2007 with the release of the two EPs, 'Paratrooper' and 'Morning,' . Since then the band has played all over America, in Europe, and Canada, including the Bonnaroo festival (07), the David Byrne curated series at Carnegie Hall, the Hillside Festival, Celebrate Brooklyn, Mimi Festival in France, and Preservation Hall in New Orleans.
