Ellen, who made a name for herself as a nightclub chanteuse at hotspots like Reno Sweeney, and then was taken under the wing of Joseph Papp who cast her in such productions as In the Boom Boom Room and The Threepenny Opera (for which she earned a Tony nomination) at the Public Theater, gained national stardom as the original Audrey in the hit stage musical Little Shop of Horrors in NY, LA, and London and then went on recreate her role for the film version.
