Beta Israel of North America Cultural Foundation Inc.

Mission
BINA seeks also to empower the Beta Israel community within the US and abroad and to advocate on issues affecting Ethiopian Jews. BINA also looks to provide access to social resources that provides greater mobility and ability to the Beta Israel community.   BINA works to increase awareness to issues affecting the Beta Israel community and to provide opportunities of self-empowerment to Ethiopian Jews.  Concurrently BINA works to educate others about the Beta Israel culture and heritage through cultural showcases, conferences and lectures.  The organization is looking to improve relations between our community and the greater Jewish community by engaging in dialogue and cross-cultural events by presenting a holistic view of the hopes, goals and accomplishments of the Beta Israel community, while offering a voice in the natural growth of Judaism.  Simultaneously, BINA is looking to encourage dialogue between our community and non-Jewish Ethiopians, with the hopes of improving relations.   BINA is also working to foster greater cooperation and group dynamics between the Jewish community and the African-American community.  

Vision
BINA is a social resource to which all Beta Israel entering New York City, the Greater New York area and the U.S at large could utilize.  BINA intends on providing support to the community’s artists, filmmakers and other creative persons in their preservation of the community’s culture and history, by encouraging their works, through displays, festivals and other creative showcases.  BINA develops cultural showcases featuring film festivals, artistic exhibition, educational workshops speaking engagements and religious celebrations that represent Judaism from a distinctive Ethiopian perspective.
