Artist Description
Vocalist Abebe Teka was introduced to music at an early age. Born and raised in Gondar, Ethiopia, Teka’s career began in the mid ‘80s with the Army Band. As a budding artist he left the country side to tour in the capital city, Addis Abeba, with the famous Medina and Savanes bands. His first recording “Sew” was released in 1996. Three years later, he settled in Washington DC and quickly connected with the Ethiopian music scene playing at Dukem, Roha, Dynasty, 2K9 and other local venues. He has toured extensively in Europe with several other famous Ethiopian singers including Abonesh, Hana Shenkute, Hibist, to name a few. Currently, Teka in the studio working on a new album due for release in 2009.Latest Comment

I am glad to see about my favourite child hood singer . But i have one comment on his first release "Sew true" is not his first rather second . His first release was a very nice job but i dont know which one of the 10 musics in one album was used to name that album but i remember all such as "Alfshebet yan sefer" . Looking forward to hear his 2009 release
