Alec Mapa is a GLAAD award winning actor, playwright, comedian, and journalist. With hilarious live performances, ground breaking television roles, and thought provoking columns in The Advocate, Alec has entertained audiences around the world in every imaginable medium. Not content with four job titles, Alec is also an avid fundraiser and activist for a myriad of organizations that benefit the GLBT community.It’s been a big year for Alec. Currently he recurs on two ABC mega hits :“Ugly Betty and “Desperate Housewives” . “Desperate Housewives” fans know him as Gabriella Solis’ pal “Vern” and this season he joined the “Ugly Betty “ cast as star fashion reporter Suzuki St. Pierre. In addition Alec serves as host for LOGO’s groundbreaking transgender dating show ‘Trans American Lovestory”. Movie audiences will see Alec opposite Adam Sandler in the Judd Apatow Robert Smigel comedy “You Don’t Mess With The Zohan” premiering in 2008. In addition Alec completed an indie film about the forming of Gay /Straight Alliances in high schools called “Tru Loved", also premiering in 2008. Reality shows have also made use of Alec’s quick wit this year as he has completed hosting duties on two brand new shows: Alec will serve as host for LOGO’s groundbreaking transgender dating show “TransAmerican Love Story” and Vh-1 also tapped Alec this year as quiz master for their brand new game show “The Smartest Celebrity”. With this many projects currently on air, or about to appear in theaters, Alec is definitely one to watch.
