Artist Description
One usually doesn’t associate a banjo with New York rock, but NY-native Andrew Vladeck does. This former Urban Park Ranger (another contradiction) started hot-wiring old instruments because he loved their sound but wanted more juice. Vladeck combines the modern with the historical, blending indie rock and folk: think Harry Smith mixed with Andrew Bird and St. Vincent. Often performing as a 21st Century-style one-man band (more pedals, sans kazoo), Vladeck is foremost a singer-songwriter (First Place in the Int’l Songwriting Competition) and has attracted a loyal following (Voted NYC Artist of the Month in the Deli Magazine). Vladeck’s on the cusp of releasing a new record, recorded by Kyle Fischer (Rainer Maria) and mixed by Dave Schiffman (Mars Volta, Johnny Cash).Latest Comment
