With an Afro-Pop-Jazz-Roots fusion style that helped Nelson Mandela break down the barriers of apartheid and got them a Grammy nomination, South Africa's Sharon Katz & The Peace Train return to Joe's Pub for a fun-raising concert and dance party of exhilarating music, exotic harmonies and lyrics that go right to the heart of today's political and social issues - with proceeds benefiting HIV/AIDS orphans in South Africa and victims of violence in the US. Touring worldwide as Mandela's cultural ambassadors, their credits include performances and CDs with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sting, Tina Turner, Madonna, Dolly Rathebe, Abigail Kubeka and Miriam Makeba. US performance highlights include New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Getty in LA, Smithsonian in DC, and Carnegie Hall's World Music Series. Their latest release, "Double Take," features a version of Pata Pata that's guaranteed to move every part of your body and soul.
