Lina Koutrakos is a transplanted, southern-based Navy brat who has been rocking the Big Apple for nearly 20 years. The music has a distinctive southern rock flavor with a refreshing urban sensibility. Indeed a sophisticated rocker with a heart full of soul, Koutrakos- a grown woman, who is anything but apathetic in her music and her life- has won numerous awards for Best Vocalist (Manhattan Assoc. of Clubs for New Yorks Best Artist of the Year 2007, The Village Voice, Backstage Magazine, & Paris's Petit Piaf for Best Female Vocalist) She is an ASCAP awarded songwriter and was the voice of the theme song to acclaimed HBO special on 9/11 "Telling Nicholas". The New York Times, the Village Voice and Billboard Magazine ask why she isn't yet a household name and the NY Post, Daily News and more answer they have no idea! The latest reviewing of the bands new indi released CD/DVD "The Low Country" compare the singer to both earthmother AND earthquake. Together with her powerful band of 7 years now, this adult Diva, accomplished ASCAP songwriter and one in million entertainer has something to say. She says it mostly by writing with fellow band members (drummer Dan Gross, Atlanta Ga. and guitarist Jean Pierre Perreaux-Paris France) Like the lady herself, the Lina Koutrakos band are a group of "the real things" who collectively embody the spirit of its lead singer.
