the disgruntled lovers are a dark duo (bitter exes, really) who make splendid sounds and share few words. Trading off on different combinations of sparse piano, guitar, drums and voice, they create deceptively massive grooves with next-to-nothing and a little elbow grease. Can’t imagine it? Think: a minimalistic take on a White Stripes vibe, splashed with some Dresden Dolls sass and spunk, and mixed in with Regina Spektor’s sense of rhythm and luscious lyrics. Or perhaps just picture them as The Captain and Tenille of the low-fi indie scene.
