Loose Cattle
were named after a country road sign...and sound that way. Like a night
in a neglected pasture corralling Ferdinand the Bull, Babe the Blue Ox
and mad cow disease, evenings with the Cattle are an unruly ramble
through classic Carter Family and Louvin Brothers songs, contemporary
tunes about guns and gasoline, and mashups that mark Dolly Parton and
Cee-Lo Green with the same glowing branding iron. Michael Cerveris (actor and former Bob Mould sideman hailing from West Virginia) and Kimberly Kaye
(Garden State native and ex New Direxion trumpetress) are duo vocalists
in the Buddy and Julie Miller/Civil Wars vein, riding both Cerveris'
original songs and crowd-pleasing covers with able-bodied ranch hands Gabriel Caplan (Naomi Shelton & Gospel Queens), Lorenzo Wolf (The Lisps) and Eddie Zweiback (Losers' Lounge). “Call it sloppy art for sloppy hearts” Magnet Magazine.
