Carolita Johnson
Artist Description
Carolita Johnson grew up in NYC, became an adult in Paris, France, where she made a living as an "ugly model", and then came back after 12 years of living in garrets to get into something more profitable that involved less rejection: cartooning, in 2002. She is now a regular contributor to The New Yorker magazine, and has published cartoons in Matt Diffee's "The Rejection Collection (1 & 2)", and Liza Donnelly's "Sex and Sensibility." She has also appeared in The Rejection Show, and The Steam-Powered Hour. Her day job involves trying on prom dresses, a job she took over from a 62 year-old model who retired after 20 years, and hopes her own butt will hold up at least until she publishes a book or two of her own.
