Artist Description
Sanble, an afro-Haitian word that means "to gather," is a collective of dancers, singers and musicians. We present an evening of dance, song and music based on Afro-Haitian and Afro-Jamaican culture but with a distinctly global flavor. The core group consists of:Belinda Becker, Jamaica -- afro-caribbean dance, vocals (NY actor, dancer and DJ) Sheila Anozier, Haiti -- afro-Haitian dance, vocals (dancer with Voudou drums of Haiti and Bethanny & Rufus) Swiss Chris, Switzerland -- drums ( former band leader and drummer for John Legend) Kaoru Watanabe, Japan -- Taiko drum, western flute (former artistic director of Kodo Drummers) Junior "Gabu" Wedderburn, Jamaica -- nyahbhingi drums, (senior drummer for the long running broadway show 'The Lion King") plus special guest artists.
