Drawing both inspiration and materials from a deep well of rural American roots music--including gospel, blues, bluegrass, and country--Ollabelle reimagines these sounds for contemporary audiences, honoring the spirit and substance of the original sources while allowing this music to live and flourish in a post-modern era. Featuring Amy Helm-vocals, mandola; Byron Isaacs-vocals, bass, dobro; Tony Leone-vocals, drums, percussion; Fiona McBain-vocals, acoustic and electric guitars; and Glenn Patscha-vocals, keyboards, accordion, Ollabelle describes their second album, Riverside battle Songs (Verve Forecast) as "a collection of songs of hard times, loss, compassion and hope."
