Artist Description"Like Rufus Wainwright and Antony before him, Holcombe Waller has a gorgeously androgynous voice, both as a singer and songwriter —¬ one that cuts through ordinary and extraordinary situations with delicacy and emotional precision. Waller's new album, Into the Dark Unknown, is a come-to-Jesus moment come to life,¬ a clear-eyed look at confusion that's as arresting as it is intimate. The album leaves Waller's voice front and center, and the result is strong, theatrical and wonderfully nuanced, all at the same time."
Holcombe Waller is a singer, composer and performing artist known for his incisive lyrics and arching vocals. His songs and arrangements discover great breadth and drama within the simplest of interactions between voice, piano, guitar and strings. Holcombe has self-released five albums on his own label, Napoleon Records, and he has created three touring interdisciplinary performances that meld his songwriting and video design within a theatrical context. His performances have been presented at the Under the Radar Festival, On the Boards, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Yerba Buena Center, and many others both nationally and internationally. Holcombe has collaborated with a number of choreographers, including Joe Goode Performance Group, Zoe Scofield, Miguel Gutierrez, as well as with video artist Ryan Trecartin and film director David Weissman. Holcombe continues to generate new touring performances, is touring behind his 2011 album "Into the Dark Unknown," and is writing and recording a new album for 2012. Join us for a special evening of songs new and old with Holcombe and special guests.
