Artist Description
Noted singer, vocal arranger and accompanist Jenni Muldaur recently completed her first new full length recording since her eponymous Warner Brother debut, working with producer and Alan Lomax Archives Director Don Fleming (Nancy Sinatra, Dictators, Teenage Fanclub, et al) and Steve Rosenthal at New York's Magic Shop studios. On the new album Jenni tackles vintage Jump Blues, music that she grew up with and still dearly loves; it's earthy, sensual and "good to dance to!" Muldaur grew up in a music-intensive environment being the daughter of Geoff and Maria Muldaur, who both played a crucial part in the '60's folk revival boom and created some of the most successful and aesthetically powerful music that developed from it. She began singing professionally as a teen, providing backing vocals on a number of artists including John Cale, Eric Clapton, Donald Fagen, and Todd Rundgren. She later threw herself into NYC's underground music scene fronting the bad-girl group The Resentments as well becoming immersed in still more extensive session work and touring as supporting vocalist with powerful, unique artists like David Gahan, Rufus Wainwright, Linda Thompson, Jazz Passengers and Shivaree among many, many others.Latest Comment
