These are just a few of the accolades bestowed upon Bettye LaVette in recent years. Her CDs have charmed both critics and contemporaries; her live shows with her band have become legendary.
In 2009, she performed a more intimate show right here at Joe's Pub, accompanied only by her Music Director/pianist Alan Hill. During that show, Bettye covered many songs from her past, when she worked with just a pianist in small clubs in Detroit. It was a critically acclaimed performance.
This time, she will revisit some of those older chestnuts, but will also feature more songs from her Anti- catalogue – including her latest CD, Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook, which has been nominated for a Grammy Award. These intimate shows are very rare. The last one sold out quickly. We advise that you buy your tickets early and bring your handkerchiefs to the club.
