Del Castillo, the flamenco-infused rock band that has become a phenomenon in their Austin, TX base and throughout the Lone Star State, has embarked on a series of performance dates that will take them to many parts of the country for the first time. Audiences far removed from Texas will be introduced to the group’s passion-filled presentation that has made them so celebrated at home. The tour will also bring them to a number of Texas venues where they have been building a reputation for excellence based on their outstanding musicianship and showmanship. Offering a fusion of flamenco and rock, Del Castillo’s line-up includes virtuoso guitarists Rick and Mark del Castillo, charismatic lead singer Alex Ruiz, and the dynamic rhythm section of Albert Besteiro (bass), Mike Zeoli (drums) and Rick “The Rev” Holeman (percussion). They have become one of the hottest attractions in Texas and have toured nationally with Ozomatli and Los Lobos as well as having guested at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic two years running. They performed at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival last year and were named #1 Live Act this year in the most recent Austin Music Pundits poll. They have received 10 Austin Music Awards including “Band of the Year” and “Best Album” for Vida, the most recent of their two album releases. Del Castillo Live, a concert DVD shot and edited by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is also part of their catalog. Their music has been heard on the soundtracks of “Kill Bill, Vol. 2” and “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” as well as on a special appearance on The George Lopez Show on ABC-TV.
