"This is Freshlyground’s second time taking a break from playing stadiums all throughout South Africa and Europe to play an intimate show at Joe’s Pub. I was totally blown away from their show at Celebrate Brooklyn last summer and love how they incorporate traditional South African rhythms with rock, jazz and synchronized dancing! If you’re not sold, listen to “Pot Belly” and “Doo Be Doo” on their myspace." - Sara Beesley (Programming Manager)

Haale / The Mast Staff Pick

"It’s been too long since I got my last Haale fix. She gets such a great groove going in the room, and I often find myself getting lost in the psych-rock-meets-Persian-trance atmosphere that she and her band conjure up. When Haale plays at Joe’s, it’s also a great time to really appreciate the room itself – the combination of the music and the way the lights hit the Pub stage really transport you to an ethereal and dynamic headspace." - Jo Lampert (Artist Liason)

So, I'm not really a great fan of the singer-songwriter genre. Too many of them sound alike--either melodically/instrumentally and/or lyrically. Boy, did this man win me over. Christina Morelli's review (above) says it all. I agree wholeheartedly, and then some.

Madison Square Gardeners / Julia Haltigan Staff Pick!

"I can’t wait for the Madison Square Gardeners’ Joe’s Pub debut with their sing along harmonic rock played by some of the best musicians NYC has to offer. I’ve seen them many times over the past couple years both on their own and backing Jill Sobule at the Pub, and every time I leave with their songs stuck in my head and a new love for great rock ‘n’ roll. Tonight they’ll be joined by Julia Haltigan who will surely start the night off right with her sultry voice and Americana-pop stylings." - Sara Beesley (Programming Manager)

Hey Battlefield rocked the house at Piano's

Check out the incredible review of Hey Battlefield's recent show at Piano's at
incontinentalbreakfast.com

"With percussive gusto, jazz-drummer Michael Scheideler delivers the tempo from behind the Beat Pulpit, launching the band's blues/rock sound. The combination of jazzy fills and nuanced flare accents lead singer Jason Rossi's lyrical style, and blends well with Tyler Krupsky's driving bass lines. Hey Battlefield, though still new on the scene, should turn some heads..."

"I am totally psyched for this show! One of the best perks of working at Joe's Pub is constantly being introduced to new music, and from the first moment I watched the video for Who You Runnin' From? I was hooked. See you there!" - Alex Knowlton (Communications Associate)
