You know they say first impressions are lasting impressions. Well, I saw DK at a BRC function at CBGBs, it was my first time there and I was a new to the NYC scene. She came to the stage in one of the Moroccan hand cabs carried by these gorgeous hunks of men. I was mesmorised from the first note and stood there with my mouth open for the whole show. That was about 20+ years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Whenever I have taken the stage over the years, she has come to mind at every performance as she is so relaxed an at home on stage and I have always been terrified. Thanks DK for your continued inspiration, i am glad to see you are still out there doing your thang. GO GURL!!!! Forever
Maiysha's debut album, 'This Much is True,' has already been featured in Newsweek, USA Today and Ebony Magazine.
Newsweek says, "This Brooklyn-bred songstress's soulful sound incorporates hip-hop, jazz and funk that is just as comfortable on the dance floor as at a backyard barbecue," and USA Today describes the album's first track as a "delicate neo-soul confection."
Ebony Magazine declares, "What sets Maiysha apart from the numerous up-and-coming divas is her broad vocal range, which like soul sister Mary J. Blige, successfully transcends hip-hop beats, R&B and funk...'This Much is True' is truly the start of a beautiful singing career for Maiysha."

Michael Arthur's artistic talent qualifies him for canonization. Oh, wait, I'm horribly biased. And yet, still correct. After all, Hirschfeld thinks Michael's brilliant, too.

DEAREST FRIENDS & CABARET LOVERS !
IMPERIOUSLY! TRUELY! IMPERIOUSLY!
Imperiously, UTE LEMPER planted her stilettos upon the stage of Joe's Pub last Saturday night, reducing her entire audience to captive lovers!
With a joy, she challenged the audience musically, intellectually, emotionally, and politically!
A very, beautiful woman, wearing a long, sexy, shimmering, black dress and, yet, almost naked, reminding all not to be so complacent but to be aware and thoughtful, experiencing life with the heart, the mind and the soul!
How appropriate are her Weimar Era Kabarett songs in today's world!
Whether doing her repertoire in French, German, English, or Yiddish, she is equally at home with every nuance of each language!
She speaks with her face, body, legs and hands as much as with her voice, heart , mind and soul!
She is one of the GREATEST CABARET ARTISTS of all!
Long may she rule!
There is no one else like her!
Run and catch a performance by UTE LEMPER anywhere, anytime!
I have seen Baye in Boston and Brooklyn, and he is a truly gifted artist. Run, do not walk, to this concert. I'm actually leaving work early here in Boston to make it down for this event. Maybe I'll see you there. Heh-heh.
