dancemOpolitan@Joe's Pub presents David Parker and The Bang Group in their notorious 21st-century vaudeville Nutcracker called Nutcracked. Peter DiMuro, Artistic Director and performer with Liz Lerman's Dance Exchange joins the party as everyone's favorite Funny Uncle, Herr Drosselmeier, and the Happy Hour Comedy Trio along with other special guests will offer up their unique versions of this holiday tale. Parker and his gang tear the Nutcracker classic from its holiday grip to present a wildly new interpretation full of outrageous wit and antic virtuosity. The Bang Group's all-dancing Nutcracked uses offbeat recordings of Tchaikovsky by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and Fred Waring as well as the traditional orchestral suite. Dancers sing, hoof, toe-tap, shake booty, strut, fret and hustle in a yuletide celebration that's distinctly downtown New York. Finally, a Nutcracker with Nuts.
