Three-time Grammy nominee Luciana Souza is one of Brazil's leading singers and interpreters, while at the same time establishing herself as one of the most exciting songwriters of the time. Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Luciana Souza grew up in a family of Bossa Nova innovators. Her work as a performer transcends traditional boundaries around musical styles, offering solid roots in jazz, sophisticated lineage in world music and an enlightened approach to classical repertoire and new music. Souza was awarded 2005 Female Singer of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. Souza has recorded six critically acclaimed albums. Souza's newest album, The New Bossa Nova, includes interpretations of songs by such legends as Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Steely Dan. Souza will be playing with Keith Ganz - guitar, Matt Aronoff - bass, and Dan Rieser - drums.
