Once a year it seems like one act comes out of the Apache
Cafe scene with remarkable promise. Last year it was Van
Hunt, who toiled outside the spotlight as a musician-songwriter
for local talent Dionne Farris. This year could very well be
David's, who's also done his time as a background singer for
Atlanta's India Arie. You can hear some Arie in his acoustic
guitar-based debut (due in stores next month). But in his
steady, gritty croon and lovely, plain-spoken writing there's Bill
Withers, and yet another Georgia-groomed artist, David Ryan
Harris." Angela Johnson delivers a refreshing breath of R&B'
and Soul Music with a nice touch of funk.
