Show Description

"Jaw-dropping instrumental music with the touch and phrasing of a master. Jake Shimabukuro is challenging every last preconception about the ukulele." -Frets magazine
Jake Shimabukuro's ukulele music is beyond category. His innovative playing techniques, lightning fast-fingers and magnetic stage presence earn him the reputation as one of the most exciting musicians on the rise today. Jake plays rock, jazz, classical, blues and more.

Dana Leong started his impressive career as an international musician with a rare skill of mastering both the cello and trombone. He regularly fills in for Yo-Yo Ma on the Grammy-nominated Jazz Chamber Trio led by Paquito D'Rivera and has jammed and worked with the likes of Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Yoko Ono, Diddy, Matisyahu, Balkan Beat Box and Earth, Wind & Fire.
This year, Leong took the first step to venture out on his own with a remarkable quintet that performs a monthly residency at the respectable Jazz Gallery. Billboard Magazine says, "Leong's solos earn hearty ovation from spectators" and The Chicago Tribune remarks, "Dana Leong crafts [cello and trombone] lines of sublime content." All About Jazz calls Leong's show "Top 10 Performances of the Year in New York City." Leong's current sound is a fusion of computerized electronic hip-hop, jazz funk rhythms and rock propulsions, a soundscape he enhances through using a laptop onstage.
