Show Description

Drawn together by a common passion for creating inspired "newgrass" acoustic music, these sterling musicians crossed continents to collide deep in the heart of Texas, where-as The Greencards-they've rapidly distinguished themselves amongst a new generation of acoustic musicians. The Greencards, Eamon McLoughlin a South London native, and Australians Carol Young and Kym Warner, were named 'Best New Band' at the Austin Music Awards , and recently tapped by Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson to support their American tour. They attribute their success to the band's diverse musical mastery and the good luck that brought them together halfway around the world with their love of country music. MOVIN' ON, the band's self-produced release is an immensely invigorating, truly satisfying exploration of the rich mother lode that is roots/Americana music. "Great name…even better music and debut album. Simply excellent music." – Bluegrass Unlimited

One of the most promising artists performing in NYC right now, Liz Tormes has been drawing much attention for her self-released CD, "Limelight", which has been described by Skyscraper Magazine as "bridging the world of roots with the haunting, reverberating chill of dream-pop. Tormes has a deft approach in her vocal that conveys innocence, with just a touch of lurking menace...the mix of silk and danger is perfectly suited to her songwriting". Liz's understated vocals are frequently compared to Cat Power and Neko Case, while her songwriting calls to mind that of Aimee Mann. The VILLAGE VOICE says, "East Villager Tormes has been causing a stir in the local circuit and beyond; catch her live now, before everyone and their Ticketmastered brother is fighting you for tickets."
