"Seemingly from the golden age!"– All About Jazz
"In the world of fraternal songwriting teams, America may have had the Gershwins- George and Ira - but Canada's got the Breithaupts."
– Richard Ouzounian, The Toronto Star
Don and Jeff Breithaupt, the composer and lyricist (respectively) that comprise the Breithaupt Brothers, bring their ever-evolving songbook back to Joe's Pub for another all-star revue, featuring a bumper crop of new songs and favorites, as well as a sampling of songs from Seeing Stars, their "boxing musical," an old-school romantic comedy that takes place in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood in 1937. As songwriters, the Breithaupt Brothers take their cue from the Great American Songbook era, but bring a contemporary energy and outlook to the material that makes their romantic, wry, sophisticated originals seem entirely fresh. Join us on October 29, 7 p.m., for another evening of Breithaupt Brothers songs performed by a brilliant house band and a still-evolving line-up of singers that will include Broadway great James Naughton, Kate McGarry, Lea Delaria, Kelli O'Hara, Morley, Carolyn Leonhart, Holly Palmer, Greg Naughton, Adi Braun, Rikki Rumball, Shelley McPherson, teen sensation Stephanie Welton, and more to be announced soon! Recent recordings of the Breithaupt Brothers' songs from Dione Taylor, Adi Braun, Lorraine Lawson, and Rikki Rumball have attracted the attention of the critics (see above) and cable (two of their songs recently appeared on Showtime's The L Word).
