In celebration of International Women's Day, Putumayo World Music presents an evening of music from two of the world's best contemporary female singer-songwriters.Originally from Colombia, Marta Gómez is one of the most riveting singer-songwriters in the world music scene today. Gomez' striking original songs are inspired by a range of Latin American genres such as Colombian cumbia and bambuco, Argentinean zamba, Cuban son and Peruvian lando.
Singer-songwriter Luca Mundaca was born in Chile and raised in a small town south of São Paulo, Brazil. Now making her home in the U.S., Mundaca combines bossa nova melodies and an urban folk sensibility with her ethereal voice.
Both Marta & Luca are featured on Putumayo World Music's February 27th release, Women of the World: Acoustic, a celebration of contemporary acoustic music by some of the world's leading female artists.
A portion of Putumayo's proceeds from the sale of this album will be donated to the Global Fund for Women in support of their efforts to promote and defend the human rights of women and girls around the world.
