illumina is a Philadelphia-based seven piece who play chamber pop that is sometimes happy and sometimes sad. Although the group has grown and shrunk in their four-year existence, they have found a happy medium with two guitars, two basses (one electric, one upright), one drum set, two keyboards, one violin, lots of percussion and many many voices. Their first album, Nightlight, was self-released and garnered them comparisons to Broken Social Scene, Neutral Milk Hotel and Built to Spill. This past October, illumina was one of a select group of artists who were offered a coveted slot to perform at BAM's Next Next Series. They have also shared the stage with The Like, the Spinto Band, Sam Prekop, The Radar Bros, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter and more.
