Show Description
"New Yorkers are perpetually trying to explain the musical gazingstock that is Sxip... With a musical arsenal that includes the industrial flute, the mutant harmonica, the obnoxiophone, the triple-extended penny whistle, a miniature hand-bell choir, and a regurgitated music box, he conjures a world of infernal calliopes and cotton candy machetes wielded by Gypsy crones with angel feet."-SF WeeklyShirey returns to Joe's Pub two months after his last sold "Sxip's Hour Hour of Charm", to share the evening with the amazing Golden Arm Trio, who composed the music for Richard Linkletter's "A Scanner Darkly" Sxip Shirey shares the stage with the amazing Graham Reynolds and his Golden Arm Trio. This is the man who wrote the score for the Richard Linkletter film "A Scanner Darkly" He and Sxip both came artistically of age at the same time in Austin Texas where they held shows called "Sxip VS the Golden Arm Trio." Now they are sharing a night together here in New York City. Also joining Sxip will be Adam Matta, the incredible human beat boxer who performed on "My Own Dirge".
"Reynolds -- like Zorn, without the heavy weather -- freely charges into other realms as a composer-performer: string quartets, symphonies, soundtracks, improvised super-rock…" crossbreeding classical futurism and punk esprit." - Rolling Stone
