The Old Ceremony draws their water from a deep well of music ranging from the Beatles to Beck, Leadbelly to Led Zeppelin. Unorthodox instrumentation meets superb songwriting, to create a unique interpretation of rock 'n' roll. After three highly acclaimed albums and four years of touring, the Chapel Hill, NC band has built a large and loyal following. TOC has performed with CAKE, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Chuck Berry, Polyphonic Spree, Mountain Goats, and Avett Brothers, and was included in PASTE Magazine's "Top 100 Albums of 2006." TOC is figureheaded by songwriter/raconteur Django Haskins, and includes bassist Matt Brandau, drummer Dan Hall, vibes/organist Mark Simonsen, and violinist/keyboardist Gabriele Pelli.
"Redefining the 'torch song', Sarah Tracey's seductive, smoky voice proves she is a crooner to look out for as well as an accomplished songwriter on her forthcoming EP, Cards On The Table." -New York Press
With a playful wink and a sultry gaze, Sarah Tracey brings you a hypnotic cocktail of intrigue, lust, revenge, and heartful melody that goes perfectly with a big slice of red velvet cake and a glass or two of pink champagne (or a good single malt; you choose your poison...) Having spent the past several years captivating audiences all over New York City’s top clubs (Joe’s Pub, The Canal Room, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall) Sarah Tracey now presents her latest EP, Cards On The Table. Inspired by the ultimate poker game, her music seduces with tales of thunderstorms, insomnia, moonlight, jealous reveries, whiskey and candle wax, valentines to city streets and laments of the unsteadiness of desire. Listen closely and you’ll hear ghosts of Peggy Lee, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, the 007 scores, and the legacy of the Great American Songbook.
