Life in a Blender /
Les Sans Culottes

Show Description

Life In A Blender come equipped with a violin, cello, horns and a touch of absurdism, bringing a vaudevillian energy to their much-loved stage show. Critic Francis Heaney says: "If They Might Be Giants got hammered and picked a fight in a bar with Tom Waits, if Mark E. Smith were articulate and friendly, if dancing were permitted on your boss's desk -- then a brief glimpse of something akin to the experience of hearing Life in a Blender might be achieved. They are a band that is passionate about finding the absurdity that lurks within the marginalia of mundane everyday existence. ... They make me feel like transcendence is constantly achievable." The New Yorker says: "A lighthearted surreal sensibility that's capable of amusing even the surliest indie rocker."

The eight-headed beast from the hard-scrabble streets of Menilmontant (and Brooklyn), "local favorites" (The New Yorker) Les Sans Culottes play "breezy, lighthearted and fun French pop descended from Gallic legends Jacques Dutronc and Serge Gainsbourg (with a dash of the Kinks thrown in)" -LA Times

I've seen Life in a Blender a few times and each time I've found them to be musically compelling, smart, fun and enjoyable. Also, they always seem to come up with new material so each time has been different.
