Redbird is the album and name of a loose affiliation of three American songwriters, Kris Delmhorst, Jeffrey Foucault, and Peter Mulvey, who decided to make a record together, after serendipitously discovering that each of their own separate musical affinities were a perfect match for each other. Loyal to the spontaneity of their original sessions, they recorded Redbird in just three days in August 2003, motivated by the intimacy of a private living room and huddled around only one microphone. What emerged is a love letter to the body of American song. Enlisting the talents of multi-instrumentalist David "Goody" Goodrich, the Redbird players themselves became multi-instrumentalists, educating themselves as they blurred musical forms and fused traditional tunes.
