Show Description

"Atomic weight between 186.2 and 190.2... soars like lark's tongue."
- Village Voice

SHRINE FOR THE BLACK MADONNA combines the dense pop-pathos of early Motown with the keening fury of the Sex Pistols; the molten funk of electric-era Miles Davis with the psychedelic crunch of Led Zeppelin. On its two sprawling debut CDs, Paradise and Inferno, the band delivers postmodern folktales of blind faith, ruined love, sexual longing, and social rebellion in the age of Katrina and Iraq.

"JUNGLI is at their best when Tasneem howls, eyes closed, her mouth pursing around the microphone, body tensed, throat rasping out some muscular forgotten pain. "
- India Abroad

JUNGLI is a rock & roll band from Brooklyn, NYC. Fronted by charismatic singer/songwrestler Tasneem Nanji JUNGLI effortlessly blends rock pop and well crafted lyrics. Their show and sound spans the globe and is sure to make a mark on the state of the world today through a love for music and art.
