Show Description

On April 29, 2008 New York City's Jenny Scheinman celebrates the release of her self-titled vocal debut album, and the digital and vinyl release of her fifth instrumental album, "Crossing The Field," out on KOCH Records. The CD release event will feature Scheinman on vocals and violin, Bill Frisell on guitar, Tony Scherr on vocals and guitar, and a stellar rhythm section including players highlighted on her new vocal recording effort. Since moving to New York City in 1999, Scheinman has been voted the #1 Rising Star Violinist for five consecutive years by Downbeat Magazine's Critics' Polls, and she has appeared on such internationally celebrated albums as Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me," and Bill Frisell's "Unspeakable." Scheinman most recently penned all the string arrangements for Lucinda Williams' latest album, "West." On her upcoming vocal debut, the idiosyncratic NYC talent leaps into the depths of American music, spotlighting both her own original alt-country indie-folk compositions and stunning renditions of old-time country-folk standards.
