Show Description
Afro-British pop songstress Adama defies conventional wisdom. Her myspace community of over 80,000 friends has been captivated by Adama's special blend of pop cool and warm soul that combines the sophistication of Sade with the spine-tingling emotion of Seal. But this former UK kung fu champion's music also bears influences as diverse as Layne Staley from Alice in Chains and Madonna/Bjork producer Guy Sigsworth. The result is a performance that transcends categorization, embracing a multi-cultural mix of virtuoso live performances, electronica and world beats. Adama's debut CD Delicate Dragon was produced for the independent label 4Dpeople Records by Gili Wiseburgh (Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, Lamb) at his recording studio near the Dead Sea. The evocatively powerful songs of Delicate Dragon emerge fully orchestrated from Adama's fertile dreams, a perpetual source that has been supplying her with rich musical pictures since she was a child in London's rough public housing. She and Wiseburgh brilliantly brought this vision to life with the help of guest appearances by Barrett Martin of seminal Seattle grunge band Screaming Trees as well as the Jerusalem Orchestra. Delicate Dragon will be in stores in February 2008 but pre release copies will be available exclusively at Adama's show."Thought provoking adult subject matter... is a stunningly capable and imaginative musician with a beautiful soul voice.. delivers genuinely affecting subject matter... will be huge."
