Show Description

"Through it all, she creates an atmosphere of such intimate ease, you feel as if she's singing for you alone."
- Entertainment Weekly

"She's like a rainbow."

- Heeb Magazine

Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn, no longer able to stay a well-kept regional secret, has been at the heart of the vibrant Northwest independent music scene ever since the 2000 debut of her insta-classic album 'You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This', on which she collaborated with Phil Elverum of The Microphones/Mt. Eerie. Her albums are an exploration of the territories beyond lo-fi, aiming to transcend mere technical limitations and to push the boundaries of 'indie-rock' towards a more meaningful communicative goal. There's a kind of deceptive simplicity to both Mirah's music and the lyrical content that upon closer listening yields to reveal a provocative and sensual complexity. Mirah's newest work, which will be showcased tonight, is again a collaboration with Lori Goldston and Kyle Hanson. A multi-media performance based on the tender and triumphant lives of insects, 'Share This Place' is a song cycle which accompanies 50 minutes of luminous and endearing stop-motion animation created by Seattle animator Britta Johnson.

"Waller's evocative voice will always foreground his creative output, but he has the vision of an artist, rather than a vocalist. As such, he uses that beauty as a tool to establish an emotional foothold with the audience, so that he can then unpack his finely crafted and haunting sensibility."
-The Portland Mercury

Holcombe Waller is a singer-songwriter and performance artist with three critically acclaimed albums. Holcombe's recent work-in-progress debut of his multi-discipline performance "Into the Dark Unknown: The Hope Chest" at the Portland Time-Based Arts Festival was acclaimed by audiences and press alike. It will next be presented at Seattle's On The Boards New Works Northwest Festival in May, before it's full-scale theatrical debut in Portland and San Francisco this Fall. Holcombe moonlights as the singing minstrel and down-and-out clown Mihael Sagalovesky – whose recent piece "Mihael Sagalovesky and the Tragic Torments of Patty Heart Townes" transformed covers of Patty Griffin and Townes Van Zandt songs into a multi-media folk operetta of devastation and redemption, thrilling audiences in Portland as well as in New York and Philadelphia. Holcombe is currently writing an original musical retelling of Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet," recording his next album, and performing at music venues far and wide with his fantastic backing ensemble The Healers.
