Show Description
Michael Kaeshammer has style and class in spades! From the moment he and his trio hit the stage and he puts his hands on the piano, the audience is captivated! Classically trained in Germany, he fell in love with boogie-woogie piano at 13. In 1996 while still a teenager his family moved to Canada and four recordings later he has become Canada's brightest triple-threat combo of piano virtuosity, vocal ability and charisma. Critics rave "prodigious technique and thunderous left hand bass lines on a repertoire of brilliantly picked and reshaped traditional jazz and blues classics as well as his exciting new originals..." Kaeshammer's new recording, "Days Like These," exemplifies that to the fullest as a surprise- filled marriage of wide ranging jazz forms, country, blues and pop. The core of a Kaeshammer live performance is his extraordinary ability to stir or quiet a large crowd using his piano and his sense of humor. And when Kaeshammer boogies, look out, the room gets jumping!!New York-based Canadian jazz vocalists Amy Cervini and Melissa Stylianou have been garnering acclaim from critics and audiences alike with their respective blends of pop, jazz and original material. Amy's debut album "Famous Blue" received rave reviews including this from Time Out New York: "Cervini neatly straddles the line between confessional balladeering and breezy swing." Melissa's latest album "sliding down" caught the attention of JazzTimes critic Christopher Loudon who commented: "a standards-bearer worth watching. But it is Stylianou's artfully imagined originals...that shift her from engaging to captivating."
Cervini and Stylianou are joining forces for this special show and will present songs from each of their recent albums as well as some breathtaking duets. They will be joined by fellow Canadians, Jamie Reynolds (piano), Jon Maharaj (bass) and Ernesto Cervini (drums).
