Cracked Ice is a seven-piece original soul/R&B band that mixes up the classics and the nouveaux. The band is led by saxophonist, composer, producer and Uptown Horns co-founder Crispin Cioe, who has played with the Rolling Stones, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin and has soloed on hit records such as "Living in America" with James Brown. Crispin's bandmates have toured with David Bowie, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Bob Dylan and Dr. John. Charlie Giordano, keyboards, is currently touring with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and will be back in the United States in time for this show. Charlie has also recorded/toured with Pat Benatar, Hall & Oates, Cyndi Lauper,Odetta, Joe Cocker, etc...and Charlie played accordian with Pavarotti! The band includes guitarist John Putnam (Shemekia Copeland, Jimmy Cliff), bassist Ivan Bodley (Sam Moore, Solomon Burke), and drummer Robin Gould (Michael Franks, GE Smith). Featured Cracked Ice vocalists Brent Carter (who sang lead with Tower of Power)and Susan D.(who earned her wings singing onstage with Wilson Pickett for several years) team up soulfully to explore the time-honored themes of love lost and love that's been found.
