Presented in association with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York.After extensive travels in the US, playing with bluesmen like R.L. Burnside and T-Model Ford, the Dutch singer, guitarist Joep Pelt left for Mali, in search of new musical input. There he met Lobi Traoré, the inventor of the 'Bambara Blues', in which ancient wisdoms of the Bambara are accompanied by spicy guitar riffs. Having worked with artists like Ali Farka Touré and Bonnie Raitt, Lobi enjoys a massive popularity in Mali, but is relatively unknown outside the nation's borders. When Joep and Lobi crossed their guitar necks there was an instant match. Their album I Yougoba, recorded in Bamako, is due to be released in the US March 2008. experience their swinging mix of funk, soul, rock and afropop. Get ready to dance; I Yougoba!
