Show Description
“This seems to be a new age of the chanteuse.’ One of the finest to emerge is Jamie Leonhart.” - George Graham, host of WVIA’s HomeGrown“New York's pop/jazz singer extraordinaire Jamie Leonhart entrances with a silky, soulful elegance. …Her original numbers are beautifully crafted, offering intoxicating melodies and involving lyrics… She transforms the Muppets' "Rainbow Connection" into a cabaret tune that's simultaneously lovely and intriguingly off-kilter, with its darkly carnival-like organ…” - Paul Freeman, East Bay Daily News
"Leonhart brings an intriguing variety of influences to the table, ranging from Mitchell, Amos and Jones to Peggy Lee and Kurt Weill...introspective, contemplative, melancholy and dreamy all at once....a consistently impressive outing from this New York City based singer/songwriter" - Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
NYC-based singer/songwriter Jamie Leonhart brings her dynamic voice and passionate songbook back to downtown NYC's Joe's Pub to premiere new material and offer songs from her first full-length album release, The Truth About Suffering. Full of soulful verve, spirit and humor, Leonhart's songs combine elements of jazz, pop and quirky cabaret that bounce between moods both somber and joyous. Jamie's lithe and lyrical, three-and-a-half octave voice wraps around universe in which Kurt Weill and Laura Nyro meet Alice in Wonderland in a dimly-lit jazz club.
This show will highlight the intimate power of a small group, featuring her trio: Michael Leonhart, Gary Wang and Marc Dalio and accordion legend Gil Goldstein.
