Tonight, Edward Rogers celebrates the release of his latest album, You Haven’t Been Where I’ve Been. The album is the stunningly beautiful and richly constructed sophomore release from British New Yorker. You Haven’t Been Where I’ve Been features twelve songs, all co-written and co-produced by Rogers and George Usher, and was mixed by Mitch Easter and mastered by George Marino.
Rogers, a Birmingham, England native, draws on an extensive and eclectic group of influences including The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Todd Rundgren, Paul Westerberg and Serge Gainsbourg. And like those artists Rogers conjures a vibe uniquely his own. The result is a perfect solo project rife with insinuating melodies, lush strings and clever but poignant lyrics. The album features a plethora of special guest musicians, and for his Joe's Pub show, Rogers' group will feature George Usher (piano/guitar/vocals) as well as Mark Sidgwick (bass), Doug Larcey (lead guitar), Tom Curiano (drums) and Claudia Chopek (violin).
Amanda Thorpe's dreamy and evocative songs have earned the English transplant a devoted following and critical raves on both sides of the Atlantic. Amanda will open the evening with a sampling of songs from her upcoming solo CD, "Union Square." The CD (featuring contributions from Graham Nash and Martha Wainwright, among others) will be officially released on May 1st, 2008.
