"A strikingly original vocal style, hauntingly beautiful" - Bill Milkowski, JAZZIZ
Polish born, Chicago-based singer, composer, arranger, and producer Grazyna Auguscik is one of the most intriguing contemporary vocalists on the world's jazz scene today. Her unorthodox approach to rewriting classic works is at once a tribute to its authors as well as an adventure into uncharted territory, while her own compositions are fresh and original. The Grazyna Auguscik Orkestar Universale Project, presented at Millennium Park in Chicago last year, received a standing ovation, reaffirming that music can communicate across boundaries of language. Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune said of her performance "Auguscik and her ensemble sound like nothing else you ever heard; they are out of this world. This must-see performer is one of the best voices to be heard today.” Her 2 new albums "Live Sounds Live" and "Andança" have just been release worldwide and are presently climbing the jazz radio charts all over the States.
"relentlessly innovative work." - Los Angeles Times
Eastern Blok's "extraordinary pan-cultural ensemble effortlessly blends classical and jazz music with the rich folkloric traditions of Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. The resulting music is as alluring as it is complex. Exotic Middle Eastern motifs merge gracefully with the evocative sounds of Eastern European Klezmer music. Beautifully conceived folk passages are followed by perfectly executed Mahavishnu-inspired runs. The passion and urgency at which this group plays is heard in every note on this remarkable musical offering" (Minor 7th Magazine).
