Show Description
Performing artist/singer Isengart was born in Germany, grew up in Paris, Munich and Barcelona and made New York his home in 1993. He began doing one-man-shows in New York's cabarets in 1997, specializing in vintage Weimar-era German song and classic French Chanson. Eventually, he expanded his repertoire and began interpreting choice pop material that suited his voice and eccentric character.
A natural-born singer, he uses his intrument in a wide range, switching seamlessly from stylized Sprechgesang to dramatic belting and soaring countertenor excursions. In 2005, he performed several highly acclaimed tribute concerts celebrating the musical legacy of the late pop-countertenor Klaus Nomi.
His androgynous looks and refined shows have garnered him a steady and diverse New York following, ranging from downtown club crowds to fancy uptown cabaret aficionados. Isengart, filling in for his friend, the incomparable Meow Meow who was delayed abroad, will be accompanied by her Musical Director, Lance Horne.
