Josh Rouse with special guest Merz
Thursday's show is part of Joe’s Pub Patrons Program
“There are approximately 2,138 white-guy singer-song-writers currently vying for your attention…it's hard to imagine any of them topping themselves six albums into their career - Somewhere, Nic Harcourt is having a glee-induced seizure.” - Entertainment Weekly
Josh Rouse started out on Rykodisc where he released five albums and two EPs of literate and engaging guitar pop. During his early years with the label, the singer/songwriter won a devoted audience with his sharply observed lyrics and melodic pop sensibility. A decade after his debut, Rouse picks his favorites from his Rykodisc years for a two-disc anthology that includes his best songs, rare tracks and seven unreleased demos and outtakes. Years and musical styles may separate these songs, but ultimately they are linked through the warmth of Rouse’s voice, the conversational ease of his singing and his unfailing melodic gift.

“Merz sounds like nobody else in the world and the world would be alright if it listened to nobody else. We absolutely love him." - Coldplay
"Like a dusty collection of English pastoral ballads leafed straight from The Incredible String Band songbook. Unsettlingly good." - NME
Merz, aka Conrad Lambert, is back - with a deep, melodic, complex folkrock vengeance. His third album, Moi et Mon Camion, is set to produce fawning from all corners with its mixture of beautiful balladeering, heartfelt tunes, intricate production and a display of Merz's multi-instrumental talents.
