Show Description
Alt-country pioneer Steve Forbert's blend of folk, rock and country has paved the way for younger artists. It has been 23 years since folk rocker Steve Forbert enjoyed an all-too-fleeting moment of fame with his top 20 hit Romeo's Tune. While he hasn't cracked the pop charts again, time has done nothing to dim this Mississippi native's creative fires.
An enthralling live performer, Forbert usually hits the stage solo, armed with just an acoustic guitar, a few harmonicas and his boyish charm. This stripped-down approach suits his expressively wispy rasp of a voice and his affecting tales about life and love. When Forbert tears into his songs with his eyes shut tight and his foot keeping time, you get the feeling he's out there doing this as much for himself as he is for his audience.
This show is part of Joe's Pub's 10th Anniversary Celebration

My very, very favorite live performer is Steve Forbert. At current count I've seen Steve perform 71 times. He plays a really mean harmonica! I've never seen more sound come from 1 individual. Acoustic guitar, harmonicas, stomping board and a great raspy voice. I personally love singers with raspy voices! Don't miss Steve on 8/18. You won't be disappointed.
Don't miss Steve Forbert

Like Richie Havens, my other favorite "guy to see live", Steve's performance personality is hugely charismatic and really transforms his music. Listening to a clip of his sound gives not a hint of the fine experience it is to hear him play.
Also, like Richie Havens, he seems to be a guy of huge personal integrity who has spent a lifetime playing the music that he loves to play the way he loves to play it. Don't miss his show.
