Lee Konitz & Ethan Iverson: Back To Cool

Back To Cool: On Thursday September 18th at 9:30 pm alto sax legend Lee Konitz and pianist Ethan Iverson will present an evening of music and conversation at Joe's Pub. Though separated my multiple eras, both Konitz and Iverson were heavily influenced by Lennie Tristano, and have explored the language of jazz in overlapping ways that transcend their generation gap. Mr. Konitz is known as the pre-eminent alto player of the cool school. Mr. Iverson is known for his pianism, as well as his "Do The Math" blog (thebadplus.typepad.com). Mr. Iverson is a gifted interviewer, and Mr. Konitz is known for his candor. Their collaboration will be a free-form combination of music and conversation.
