Hannibal Lokumbe & Gary Giddins
Show Description
On Sunday, September 14th composer-trumpeter Hannibal Lokumbe will be performing in New York City for the first time since the 20th century. Hannibal will appear in conversation with critic Gary Giddins, who has followed Hannibal's work as it moved from blues to jazz to classical, eventually encompassing the finest of both African and Western music. The conversation will be followed by a performance by Hannibal and his quintet. Hannibal has a history with The Public Theater, as a featured musician in the predecessor to Joe's Pub, the original ""Jazz At The Public"" series. We're thrilled to be welcoming him back.
